Recognition through GRP78 is enhanced in the UK, South African, and Brazilian variants of SARS-CoV-2; An in silico perspective

New SARS-CoV-2 variants emerged in the United Kingdom and South Africa December 2020 concomitant with Brazillian variant February 2021 (B.1.1.248 lineage) currently sparking worldwide during last few months. The new strain 501.V2 bears three mutations spike receptor-binding domain (RBD); K417 N, E484K, N501Y, while Brazilian B.1.1.248 lineage has 12 mutations. In current study, we simulate complex ACE2-SARS-CoV-2 RBD system which is wild-type mutated isoforms. Additionally, cell-surface Glucose Regulated Protein 78 (CS-GRP78) associated (ACE2-S RBD) modeled at presence of these mutant viral spike. results showed that E484K N501Y are critical recognition through either ACE2 or CS-GRP78. (the UK, African, Brazilian) tightly bind to GRP78 more than case RBD. These point potent role attachment variants, could be a key for design inhibitors block entry host cell.
